On Tuesday, November 19th, Winhall’s children were treated to a storytelling presentation from Simon Brooks and a preview of brand-new books through a Children’s Literacy Foundation (CLiF) grant awarded to the Library.
Simon led interactive presentations at The Mountain School at Winhall. Library Trustee Judy Reynolds introduced children to new books the library received through the CLiF grant. The grant allowed librarian Dawn Santos to select $2,000 worth of new books for the library’s children’s collection. This grant also enabled the school to select $500 worth of new books to share with their students.
“CLiF’s Rural Libraries grant allows for us to grow and update our children’s non-fiction collection. I am excited to share these books with the children and families of our community. I am thankful to the generosity of Phillip & Ellen Blumberg whose sponsorship made this grant possible.”-Librarian Dawn Santos
The grant encourages libraries in New Hampshire and Vermont towns of 5,000 residents or fewer to partner with schools and to encourage a community-wide commitment to literacy. The Mountain School at Winhall will also receive new books, a storytelling presentation, and book giveaway in the Spring.
